きろろぽっくるアイキャッチ TakeOut

Gut activation refers to activities to improve the intestinal environment and achieve health from the inside out.Among foods that are good for intestinal health, “fermented foods” have attracted particular attention.Located directly at JR Kotoni Station, “Kiroro Pokkuru” is a general antenna store for fermented foods that sells foods imported from various regions and original products. We visited the manager, a certified fermented food sommelier, who introduced us to their “Enzyme Brown Rice Onigiri” and other products recommended for gut activation and gluten-free living.

The store is directly connected to JR Kotoni Station! You can go there from the aerial corridor.

JR Kotoni Station has a rather interesting structure, with an “aerial corridor” connecting the station to nearby facilities as you exit the station ticket gate.
The red line added by the author to the lower image shows the route to the “KiroroPokkuru” store.
It is nice to be able to move around without worrying about the weather because we do not have to go outside.

Follow the signs and walk towards “Cortena I”.

Arrived at “Cortena I.”
Kiroropokkuru is located in the back of the building.

Signs for fermented drinks and enzyme brown rice balls catch my eye.
I am curious about them.

What kind of store is KiroroPokkuru? The inside of the store

Wide selection of familiar foods such as natto and pickled plums, additive-free seasonings, vegan sweets, etc.

Fermentation JuiceBar “Kiroro Pokkuru” opened in August 2020 as an antenna store to sell fermented foods from various regions and to disseminate knowledge about fermentation.

The operating company is Unilife Corporation, which deals in organic foods and supplements.

Seasonings, miso, pickles, etc., as well as nukazuke (pickles) stock are also sold.

Let’s briefly review fermented foods.

Fermentation is the process by which microorganisms change the nutritional value and flavor of food into a form that is better for humans.
Natto (fermented soybeans) and miso (fermented soybean paste), which have been popular since ancient times, are typical examples of fermented foods.

Fermented foods are rich in ingredients that regulate the intestinal environment and revitalize the body from the inside out.
Fermentation is not only good for beauty and health, but also makes the food taste more delicious and tasty.

KiroroPokkuru offers and proposes such fermented foods in various forms, such as “koji amazake,” “smoothies,” and “enzyme brown rice rice balls,” in order to make them more accessible.

The store’s flagship product, sacle enzyme, is an enzyme made by acetic acid fermentation of about 80 kinds of vegetables and fruits

Order enzyme brown rice balls and fermented drink

Enzyme brown rice is brown rice and azuki beans cooked with salt and then fermented and aged.
Brown rice has an image of being hard and difficult to eat, but by aging it, it changes to a surprisingly sticky texture, making it easier to eat even for those with weak chewing ability.

I love it so much that I want to eat it every day!If you haven’t experienced it, I hope you will try it!

They sell enzyme brown rice by weight as well as onigiri. They are perfect for lunch.

At the time of the interview, we chose the basic “Shio” (¥270) and “Chirimen Sansho” (¥324), and ordered a boxed lunch set with side dishes for an additional ¥324.(Total ¥918).

Side dishes at the time of order are “Pickled Vegetables”, “Stir-fried Soybean Meat and Eggplant with Barley Miso”, and “Stir-fried Dried Radish with Chinese Malted Rice”.(Side dishes change daily)

The rice balls are small, but very filling, so two are very satisfying.

Shio” is the simplest onigiri, with the flavor of Tibetan salt and nori (seaweed), and offers a direct taste of the deliciousness of enzyme brown rice.
The other was “Chirimen Sansho,” a favorite of both the manager and the staff. The flavor of the crunchy, flavor-soaked chirimen-jakko and shiso leaves was a perfect match.

Each side dish is carefully prepared and all are gently seasoned. It is truly a power lunch that will energize you from the inside out.

On the day of our visit, we were served in a take-out container, but you can also eat and drink inside the restaurant (limited to 4 seats).
In that case, the container will also be made to in-store specifications, as shown in the following image ^ ^.

They say that sprouting brown rice makes it more palatable and nutritious.
Rice cookers that can cook rice in the same way as in the store were also available.

The following is taken from the store’s official Instagram
(Note: Campaigns have been held in the past)

Now, let us introduce some fermented drinks that you may be interested in.

There are six major types of fermented drinks.
There are three different types of rice malt amazake, two types of kombucha, and six different flavors of smoothies, one iced and three hot.

I’m curious about all of them and get lost <@_@>.

①Organic rice malt amazake (iced or hot)…¥345~
②Enzyme brown rice amazake (iced or hot)…¥378
③Fermented smoothie (iced)…¥594
④Fermented smoothie (hot)…¥561
⑤Kombucha (ice cream)…¥561~
⑥sacleEnzyme drink (iced or hot)…¥561

By the way…
Do you know what “kombucha” ( kombucha ) is?

This is not the so-called Japanese “kelp tea” but a slightly carbonated fermented beverage made from tea (black tea and green tea).
It is characterized by its fruity sourness and subtle sweetness.

You may recall from the story that it once broke out in Japan under the alias ” black tea mushrooms.
On the other hand, those who are unfamiliar with tea mushrooms may be a bit confused by the name.

It is said that the name “mushroom” was inspired by the fermentation of the original “fungus” rather than so-called mushrooms.

The name “kombucha” is said to be Korean in origin, but there are many theories as to why the black tea mushroom came to be called kombucha.

If you’re curious, please do a search for “kombucha origin” or something similar!
It’s interesting to see all kinds of popular myths.

The company kindly allowed us to sample their original kombucha at the time of the interview, which was very refreshing and tasty!
It is like a slightly carbonated vinegar drink.

I totally loved the refreshing sour taste and wanted to try more, so I ordered the Fresh Berry Kombucha (626 yen).

Kombucha is poured directly from the server, just like fresh beer. The freshly poured kombucha goes down your throat in a pleasant, refreshing way.
The refreshing sourness like apple cider vinegar combined with the sweet and sour berry flavor makes it very easy to drink.
I thought it was much less sweet than a typical vinegar drink, although it has a slight sweetness to it due to the need for sugar as a raw material in the fermentation process.

In addition, we were kindly allowed to sample a fermented smoothie, which we would like to share with you.
The most popular flavor is actually “Berry Mix,” but I chose “Farmer’s Green” because I just got berries with my kombucha.

Farmer’s Green Smoothie consists of komatsuna, kiwi, apple, orange, and rice malt amazake.
When I heard the word “smoothie,” I imagined it would be “sweet” on its own.I thought it would be “sweet,” but it was less sweet than I expected.
The natural sweetness of the fruit and amazake, with the slight flavor of komatsuna, gives a refreshing aftertaste.

I like it a lot… I feel like my body is happy.I

Personally, I thought it would be a good idea to choose fruit-based products such as berries and mangoes for a snack, and greens for a meal.

A seat in the back of the restaurant. It is very relaxing ^^.

A wide variety of gluten-free foods are also available!

Both the enzyme brown rice balls and the fermented drink we have introduced so far are gluten-free because they are wheat-free, of course, but there are other gluten-free products we offer.
